Church Websites(Sidekick): Banners: Edit an Existing Banner-Image Editor Overview
Let's edit a banner that is already on a page. Click the edit pencil button.
- Let's add a homepage banner. Remember, no changes will take place until after you have clicked apply changes. First, let's click the design button. One way we can do this is to upload one we have already made by clicking the add banner, then select files. But we're not going to do this at this time, so let's click the X button. What we are going to do is we're going to drag and drop a banner. So grab the banner, then drag it to the homepage banner area. We order it where we want it and then just click apply changes and we are done.
- Let's check out how to make a full page banner. First off, I want to clear things up. What these really are, are pages. Or in this case, scrolling pages. So like all pages, they will get cropped and resized in mobile view. So it is vital that you do not upload images for your full page banner that have text or an image of a person on them, as it may cut them off. Not only in mobile view, but in different views as well. For instance, check out this image I made with this guy playing the guitar and the cool verse on it. It looks great. But now, look what happens when I have it inserted as a banner. It looks all messed up. And when I view it in mobile view, it still doesn't look right. So instead, do something like this. Click the design button. Click add banner. Now here you can either upload or select an image. If you want to make it darker, add an overlay. Next, click save. Now I'm going to go ahead and click the pencil edit button on the top right. I automatically have a single layout row, so I can just paste my text. Change it to whatever font you would like. Change the size, the color, and alignment. Then you just click save. Now look, you can see everything and nothing is cut off. Check it out in mobile view.
- Click on the banner that you would like to edit. This mini toolbar comes up. From here, you can select how it will behave within text, edit it, or remove it altogether. Click on the edit pencil. Here there are more options that we will cover in future tutorials, but for right now, we are going to click on the edit and sidekick image editor button. You will see that we are now in image editor mode.
- You can add text, add a different image, and save. Let's add some text. Click the add text button. You will see that the word text pops up in the left. Click it. Underneath the image is a new menu. Here you can change the color and transparency of the text, add a shadow, and adjust the intensity and position of that shadow, as well as change the color and transparency of the shadow. You can add an outline to my text and change the thickness and color of it as well. If you want to change the wording of the text, you would just enter the wording right here. You can select the type of font you would like to choose here. Our image editor grabs a font selection from the font database that is on the computer that you are using, so that if you have a particular font you'd like to use, you don't have to upload it to your website to use it. You can make it bold or italicized here. If you hover over the text, you can click and drag it to where you would like it. Then you can spin it to my desired orientation. If you click the arrows, you can make the text bigger or smaller. When you are done editing, click the save and exit button. Now click update, then click save, and you are all done!

Church Websites(Sidekick): Banners: How to Add a Slideshow (Rotating Image Slider) Anywhere on Your Church Website
Did you know that you can add a rotating banner on any page? You can also use this tool to create slideshows for any of your images instead of creating a gallery. Click on the edit pencil. Once you have your layout row selected, click on the feature button. Click rotating banner, then add image.
- Here you can either select files to upload from your computer, pull them from the image editor, or from your media library. You have them already added to my media library, so you will pull them from there. When you are done, you can edit the speed of transition and the type of transition.
- You can add words to them using the image editor, add links to them, and remove the ones you no longer want displayed. You can also change the order of them by dragging them around like this. You can preview the slideshow by clicking here. And when you done, all you need to do is click save, and then save again. You can do this with any image. Just make sure that all of your images are the same size, otherwise they will scroll at different sizes, and that just doesn't look very good.
