Church Websites (Sidekick): Content Sections: Add an Image to the Background of a Section

Learn how to add an image to the background of a section. If you are wanting to add a textured background, click here.

*This video overview may include some out-of-date images. We appreciate your patience as we work to get these videos updated.

Let's add an image to the background of a section. We are already on the page we need to be on, and we already have the sections made, so click on the edit button.

If you hover over a section, you will see your background button on the top right. Click on it and the section tool pops up. You now have five different options.

You can choose a stock image and click on the stock background library. From here you can pick up from what is already uploaded or search for one by entering a keyword, like mountain, and all we need to do is click one and your background will change.

If you don’t like one, you can click to change the image. If you change your mind and want to use that one, you can just click on recent section backgrounds, and here it is. The adjustments drop down will allow you to adjust the spacing of my columns, and in certain circumstances with specific settings to change the focus of the image.

Clicking on the texture button will allow me to make the background a solid color and texture. Just click on textures. Here we can see that we have various textures that we can add, or if you want, you can just pick a color for the background.

You can change the color by clicking my mouse on the slider and moving it up and down. You can change the hue by clicking in the color box and dragging my mouse around in it. The second slider works like the color slider and changes the transparency, and if you have a color number, you can enter it in here.

We can upload an image by clicking uploads. Once you click uploads, you can click on upload a background or image. This will show all of our recent images used.

You can either choose one of these or click on upload. From here I can click on select files, or if you already have one uploaded, click on media library. Then you can select the image and click on add custom background.

The overlay section works like the color tool in the texture section. The only difference is that it begins with the transparency bar set to fully transparent. It is also where I can add a hover effect.

And the section link button will allow you to make this section a link to a different page, or if you like, a different website. Now the only thing you wanted to do was add my image and add text to it, so let's finish this up. You are going to add your content, then add my padding by pressing the enter button or return button for all of you Mac users out there to make my section larger. Then you will click save.
